Moving into second gear after a quiet but transitional summer

September is approaching. At last Friday’s growth circle meeting and potluck lunch, we could all sense stress levels rising. There was a certain agitation in the air, as Brussels is coming back to life after an unusually quiet summer. And although we feared the financial impact of the summer slowdown, we are grateful for the chance it gave us to rest and slow down.

The summer also brought some changes to the Hub. A few members are adjusting their membership plans due to new commitments and life changes. And Jana and Michael—who took care of our back-office finance and bookkeeping—are moving on to new paths. We will miss them deeply and extend a heartfelt thank-you for their crucial contributions.

At the same time, we’re happy to welcome many new members. In fact, we are close to reaching our maximum capacity for the Shifters Plan—members who come nearly every day and actively contribute to the community. We currently have 15, and our goal is to grow to 20. If you’re interested in joining, come along to a potluck or try a free coworking day on a Friday.

On September 1st, we will also be joined by a new collective: the Open Dialogue Foundation. Lyudmyla and her team will bring fresh energy and conversations around human rights and democracy. To welcome them, we made a significant logistical upgrade to the Hub, creating more space and comfort for everyone.

Our coziest space—the Angel Room— has transformed into a dedicated area for massages, one-on-one coaching and small group meetings. Member Tente has launched a community of facilitators and healers called Omshana, who will manage bookings for the room and curate Sunday programming, bringing even more circles, meditation, and healing into the Commons Hub.

Our second year holds a lot of promise. We’re welcoming new members every week, the space is evolving, and the programme is flourishing with diversity and creativity. We’re also building exciting partnerships with event organizers, universities, and leading experts in various fields.

Much gratitude to everyone who keeps the Commons Hub alive—a place of opportunity, experiment, and connection.

We hope to see you soon. 🧡
